Saudi Arabia is currently in phase 3 of lockdown measures, enabling movement without restriction (except the Makkah region). Saudi customs now working at 100% and there is no longer a requirement of 2 x brokers per location. International flights are still suspended. Heavy congestion is experienced at Riyadh airport, due to large inbound volumes. This situation is significantly impacting clearance timelines. It is recommended to route air freight through both Dammam and Jeddah airports, whilst Riyadh airport congestions persists.

Road freight transit operations to other countries are still suspended except for the food, medical supplies and military cargo. Foreign drivers are also still suspended to entry into KSA except for the food, medical supplies and military cargo. Airports and sea ports free time had been reduced back to 5 days from the 10 days announced during the lock down.

On September 13th the Saudi Arabia Government announce that all restrictions on travel will be lifted by 1 January 2021. This will have a positive impact on alleviating the current constraints on Air Freight capacity.
